Tummy Tuck

Tummy Tuck

Our insecurities are unique to each of us, but a very common concern we hear is the appearance of fat around the abdomen. This is incredibly common, particularly among women who naturally store fat around the waist and hips. This fat layer is often one of the first places where fat appears when we gain weight, along with weight around the hips, thighs and upper arms. Tummy tucks may be carried out for a few different reasons, such as:

    - To remove the appearance of loose skin after significant weight loss

    - To remove the appearance of loose skin after liposuction, VASER lipo or a similar fat removal treatment

    - To improve the appearance of abdominal skin and tighten abdominal muscles after pregnancy or massive weight lost

    - To improve the appearance of abdominal scarring from earlier surgery or injury, or to improve the appearance of C-section scarring

If you’re struggling with insecurity in relation to the shape of the fat, muscles or skin around your abdomen, a tummy tuck may be a really good option for you. We’re always happy to work with you to find the perfect treatment plan for you and to create results that help you feel like your best self.

WHAT IS TUMMY TUCK

A tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty, is a procedure that involves surgery to remove excess loose skin and fat from the abdominal area, as well as tightening the abdominal muscles to create a sculpted, slender and smoothed appearance around the waist, stomach and hips. It can also be used to remove scarring, stretch marks and other marks on the stomach, or to make these marks less noticeable.

After tummy tuck surgery, you’ll go home with your stitches still in. We generally use dissolvable stitches, and your surgeon will tell you how long these will take to dissipate in your consultation and before & after your procedure.

Initially, all patients will experience pain, bruising and swelling to varying degrees, but your symptoms will start improving within days after your surgery. It’s normal for there to be some longer-term swelling, but this should completely subside within a couple of months. In most cases, scars fade with time, but they may not totally disappear – initially, they will be quite noticeable, but they will start blending into your skin in time.
